Una pausa. Ecco quello che ho fatto sul mio blog, presa dalla situazione attuale, che si può anche vedere come una pausa… una pausa nel nostro quotidiano, sempre di corsa e pieno cose da fare.
Con le scuole chiuse, in Europa, ma anche ancora in Cina (la mia scuola primaria di Shanghai dovrebbe riaprire a metà maggio), le lezioni sono state trasferite online. E ho avuto l’opportunità di dare lezione di danza online, registrando un video per i bambini che è stato messo sul sito della scuola, a disposizione di tutti gli studenti.
Dare una lezione così online, è molto diverso dal dare una lezione dal vivo. In un certo senso è più facile, perché con il video ciascuno può andare al proprio ritmo e riguardare se ne ha bisogno, e non si è confrontati alla difficoltà di gestire allo stesso tempo i bambini più impazienti di continuare la lezione, mentre si deve rispiegare un passo ad altri. Ma dall’altra, è molto più difficile. Non potendo avere un feedback diretto dai bambini : vedendo se hanno capito, se stanno seguendo e se sono interessati, bisogna provare ad anticipare le loro domande e difficoltà. Senza menzionare il fatto che manca l’aspetto propriamente relazionale che rende ogni lezione unica, con le risate dei bambini, i sorrisi di quelli fieri di riuscire subito un esercizio e la preoccupazione di altri più timidi.
Sono stata molto contenta e commossa di ricevere dei video di alcuni bambini della scuola che avevano seguito la lezione e che mi volevano salutare, ringraziare e fare vedere come facevano gli esercizi.
« Ciao Sophia! Ho visto il tuo video, grazie! Spero di rivederti presto, ci manchi tanto », « Ciao maestra Sophia! Grazie per aver fatto i video per noi in questo momento così particolare. La tua lezione di danza mi aiuta a dimenticare le preoccupazioni per il nuovo coronavirus », « Buongiorno Sophia ! Guarda, questi sono fiori per te: questo fiore significa l’amicizia tra di noi.”. Ho anche ricevuto messaggi scritti, che mi sono stati inoltrati dalla dirigente della scuola. Alcuni venivano dai genitori: « …Non solo hai mostrato la delicatezza e l’equilibrio della danza classica, ma hai anche guidato i bambini ad entrare in questa sfera artistica « . « Spero che i bambini apprezzino le opportunità di apprendimento offerte dalla scuola »; o dai bambini stessi: « Capisco che il balletto non è semplice come appare dal palcoscenico ».

With schools closed, in Europe, but also still in China (my primary school in Shanghai should reopen in mid-May), lessons have been transferred online. And I had the opportunity to give dance lessons online, by recording a video for the children which was then made available to all students on the school’s website.
Giving an online lesson is very different from giving it live. In a way it is easier, because with the video everyone can go at their own rhythm and watch again if they need to, and you are not faced with the difficulty of managing at the same time the children more impatient to continue the lesson, while you have to reexplain a step to others. But on the other hand, it is much more difficult. Not being able to get a direct feedback from the children : seeing if they understand, if they are following and if they are interested, you have to try to anticipate their questions and difficulties. Not to mention the fact that there is not the relational aspect that makes each lesson unique, with the laughter of the children, the smiles of those proud to succeed immediately an exercise and the concern of others more shy.
I was very happy and moved to receive videos of some of the children in the school who had followed the lesson and who wanted to greet, thank and show me how they did the exercises.
“Hi Sophia! I saw your video, thank you! I hope to see you soon, we miss you so much”, “Hello Teacher Sophia! Thank you for making videos for us in this special time. Your ballet class helps me forget worries about the new coronavirus.”, “Bonjour Sophia! Look, this are flowers for you : this flower means the friendship between us. We wish that you come back to teach us!” and messages from parents: “…You not only showed the softness and balance of ballet, but also led the children into the ballet world. It is hoped that the children will cherish the learning opportunities provided by the school.” and from the students: “I understand that ballet is not as simple as the surface and beauty on the stage.”
